< PreviousMatt Banker Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Matt Banker joined UofL as Associate Athletic Director in October of 2013. In his current role, Banker serves as sport ad- ministrator for Men’s Soccer and Women’s Rowing and the Athlet- ics Department’s liaison to University Housing. Banker also supports the athletics department’s NCAA compli- ance and rules education initiatives, athletics strategic planning, legal affairs and risk management. Banker has represented UofL on the ACC’s Men’s Soccer Commit- tee and ACC Constitution & Bylaws Committee. Prior to joining UofL, he served as the Ohio Val- ley Conference Assistant Commissioner from January 2010 to October 2013. At the OVC, Banker oversaw the OVC’s compliance, academics, NLI, governance and other conference operations. He also served as the sport administrator for OVC men’s and women’s tennis. Banker served on the NCAA Division I Legislative Council from 2010-2013 and was elected Legislative Council chair for 2013-14. Banker also served on the NCAA Division I Subcommittee on Legislative Relief and the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Governance Subcommittee. Banker served as the Assistant Dean for Student Af- fairs at the Indiana University School of Law in Indianap- olis from 2008-09. While with IU School of Law, Banker directed student services on behalf of the law school including advising, new student orientation, spring com- mencement, final exams and the law student hand- book. Banker served on the Dean’s senior leadership team and law school’s ABA self-study committee. Prior to working at the IU School of Law, Banker worked at the NCAA from 2002-08, first as the Associate Director of Membership Services and later at the NCAA Eligibility Center as the Associate Director of Academic Review. His responsibilities with the NCAA included drafting NCAA legislation and publications. Banker also served as staff liaison to several NCAA committees and coun- cils. From spring 2007 to July 2008, he managed the day-to-day operations of the NCAA Eligibility Center aca- demic review team. Banker received his Bachelor of Arts degree in jour- nalism from the University of St. Thomas (MN) in 1997. A member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, Banker was a three-time letter winner for the Tommies’ football team. Banker received his Juris Doctorate from the Marquette University Law School in May 2001. At Marquette he was the president of the St. Thomas More Society and a member of the Sports Law Society. Banker volunteers with the Louisville Leopard Per- cussionists and the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, the National As- sociation for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and NACDA. Banker has taught sports law and compliance courses at Belmont University’s School of Law and UofL’s Sport Administration Graduate School. Amy Calabrese Associate Athletic Director Amy Calabrese, a former UofL student-athlete and member of the UofL staff since 2007, was el- evated to Associate Athletic Direc- tor in July 2019. She had served as Assistant Athletic Director for six years In addition to serving as the sport administrator for women’s lacrosse, softball, women’s soccer and field hockey, Calabrese is the liaison with the Dean’s Office and several other departments on campus. She man- ages the departments adidas internship program and Title IX educational efforts for staff and student-athletes. Calabrese operated as Director of Student-Athlete Development at UofL from May of 2010 until her ad- ministrative appointment in 2013. Her duties have in- cluded developing and implementing UofL’s life skills program for student-athletes, including leadership de- velopment, educational programming and career educa- tion. She has had oversight for the UofL Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, managed the department’s Perfor- mance Team, which provides support and mental health resources for student-athletes, managed multiple event, LCare progarm and implemented a senior seminar pro- gram and leadership groups. She worked nearly three years as assistant director of student-athlete development and championships from 2007-10. In that role, she aided in UofL’s efforts in serv- ing as host for conference and NCAA championships, event management, community outreach projects and life skills program. Calabrese joined the UofL staff as a graduate assis- tant in development in 2007. She assisted the Cardinal Athletic Fund with its annual fund, event management, game-day donor areas and student-athlete scholarship program. She also worked briefly as an intern with US Paralympics at the US Olympic Committee and as a sales representative for the Louisville Bats Triple-A base- ball team. Calabrese was a four-year letter winner for the Car- dinals’ soccer team from 2003-06, earning Academic All-America honors as a junior and senior. The stellar defender started all 77 matches of her career, playing every minute of every game but one as a junior, as the Cardinals won 43 games over her four years. A team captain her last two years, she was an All-Conference USA third-team selection as a sophomore after coming to UofL from Centennial, Colo. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sport admin- istration with a minor in business administration from UofL in 2007 and went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration, also from UofL, in 2009. She is a former “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters and is a former board member for Girls on the Run in Louisville. She is a graduate of Ignite Louisville and Leadership Louisville as well as a member of Women Leaders in College Sports. She and her husband Rich have three children, Jack, Colin and William. Michael Dudas Associate Athletic Director for Development and Tickets A member of the Cardinals’ athletic staff for 11 years, Michael Dudas is in his second year as Associate Athletic Director for De- velopment and Tickets. Dudas joined the Cardinal Athletic Fund staff in July 2008 and rose to Assistant Athletic Director in 2015 until his current role. He gained oversight of the Cardinal Athletic Fund in 2018 when assuming the Associate Athletic Director senior leadership position with the Cardinals. Dudas oversees the administration, operations, planning and implementation of all annual giving and fundraising initiatives within UofL Athletics. He also has oversight of the Cardinals’ ticket operations and sales. A native of Hopkinsville, Ky., he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2006 from Austin Peay State University, where he competed on the Gov- ernor’s basketball team. He was a member of APSU’s 2002-03 team which won the Ohio Valley Conference championship and faced Louisville in the NCAA Tourna- ment first round. His APSU 2003-04 team won the OVC regular season title with a perfect 16-0 league record and advanced to the NIT. Dudas earned his master’s degree in sport adminis- tration from UofL in 2009. He and his wife Katie have three sons: Connor, Parker and Chase. Christine Herring Senior Woman Administrator/ Associate Athletic Director Christine Herring, a former UofL student-athlete and mem- ber of the athletics staff since 2008, is in her sixth year as Asso- ciate Athletic Director and serves as the Cardinals’ Senior Woman Administrator. She serves as the sport administrator for the Cardi- nals’ women’s basketball, volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming and div- ing, cheer, dance, band and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field programs. She also over- sees the Sports Nutrition Department, Mental health, the Olympic Sports Performance Department and is the Title IX officer for the department. Herring has had a broad range of responsibilities at UofL. She was formerly Assistant Director of Develop- ment with the Cardinal Athletic Fund, where she solicit- ed philanthropic gifts for the annual fund. She previous- ly served as UofL’s Director of Special events, overseeing and coordinating several events for sports’ teams and athletically related events for the department. She operated as an assistant coach with the UofL track and field program for three seasons, including serving as recruiting coordinator for two years. In addi- tion to coaching, her responsibilities included oversee- ing travel, alumni relations, marketing and assisting with administrative duties as the Director of Operations. A four-year letterwinner, Herring competed for the Cardinals from 2004-08 in events such as the heptath- lon, high jump, long jump, weight throw and hammer throw. She was a team captain during her last two sea- sons for the Cardinals and a member of the 2008 BIG EAST Women’s Outdoor Track and Field championship team, as well as the 2007 BIG EAST Women’s Outdoor runner-up team when she finished in the top 10 of the heptathlon. She finished in the top three of the high jump in six meets as a senior, recording a personal best of five feet, 8.75 inches (1.75 meters) to tie for first in the SIU Fast Start Invitational. In high school, Herring was a two-time Michigan state champion and Division II state record holder in the high jump and earned aca- demic all-state honors as a junior and a senior. A native of Big Rapids, Mich., Herring graduated from UofL with a bachelor’s degree in business admin- istration with a concentration in marketing in 2008. She is the daughter of Jim and Arlene Krellwitz and has two sisters, Katie Clifford and Julie Weiss and a brother, An- thony Krellwitz. She and her husband Michael have two sons, Joey and Jake. 118 University of Louisville n gocards.com Athletic Administration 201 9-20 B A SKETB ALLDr. Patrick Ivey Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Health and Performance Dr. Pat Ivey, who has over 20 years of collegiate experience in athletic performance roles, joined the UofL staff as Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Performance in January of 2019. Prior to coming to Louisville, Ivey worked the previ- ous two years at Arkansas State, where he served as Assistant Athletics Director of Athletics Performance for a year. He was the Director of Mental Performance at Arkansas State in 2017. Ivey also served as the Associate Athletics Director for Athletic Performance at Missouri from 2011-15 and was named the National Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by Foot- ballScoop.com in 2013. He served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Access and Leadership Development at Missouri for 18 months from 2016-17. A former Missouri football letterwinner (1993-95), Ivey was selected as an All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete in 1995. After receiving his under- graduate degree in 1996 in Hotel and Restaurant Man- agement with an emphasis in nutrition, he spent time in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers for four sea- sons from 1996-1999. He completed his Master’s in Health Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction in 2000 while serving as a graduate assis- tant director of strength and conditioning at Missouri. Ivey returned to Missouri in 2004 in the role of Director of Strength and Conditioning after serving in the same capacity at Tulsa from 2002-03. There, he oversaw strength and conditioning efforts for all 18 sports and was part of the resurgence of the football program, which had the nation’s best turnaround in 2003. Tulsa went 8-5 in 2003 after producing a 1-11 record in the prior year. Ivey earned his Ph.D. in sports psychology from Mis- souri in 2013. He is a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) and a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa. Additionally, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and an accomplished speaker on sports performance. Originally from Detroit, Mich., Ivey and his wife Dr. Starla Ivey have two daughters: Paisli and Serena. Michael Ortman Associate Athletic Director of Facilities Michael Ortman was elevated to Associate Athletic Director of Facilities in July 2019 after five years as UofL’s Stadiums Man- ager, when he was overseeing Cardinal Stadium, Jim Patterson Stadium and Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. Recently, Ortman had oversight with the two-year expansion of Cardinal Stadium and the football facility that was completed prior to the 2018 football season. Before coming to the UofL, Ortman worked 17 years at Soldier Field in Chicago, serving as the Director of Operations for his final 12 years there. He oversaw the facility’s operations encompassing the 98 acres of park land, parking structures and stadium. He coordi- nated the operational needs for the more than 225 events held annually in and around the stadium. Overseeing and coordinating the staff of over 250 trades, cleaning, landscaping and facility operations staff were part of Ortman’s focus. Additional responsibilities included the stadium life safety, operating systems and as the lead contact for all media needs for the facility for every event. On an annual basis, Ortman created and oversaw the stadium’s annual capital improvement program that accounted for projects that were done to maintain the original 1924 historic structure along with projects to continue to keep Soldier Field on the cutting edge of technology and fan amenities. During Ortman’s tenure, Soldier Field was recog- nized as the first stadium in the country to receive the certification of LEED-EB through the United States Green Building Council. Between 2005 and 2014, Ortman was a part of 10 Super Bowls, working as the AFC team coordinator ensuring team access and needs were met both on the sidelines and in the locker room for the NFL. He earned his degree in animal science in 1995 and his masters in business administration in 1997, both from Western Illinois University. Ortman and his wife Christine have three children: Samantha, Madison and Austin. Amy Shoemaker Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Deputy University Counsel A 12-year employee of the University of Louisville, Amy Shoemaker began her role as Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Deputy Uni- versity Counsel in May 2018. Shoemaker serves as a member of the Athletics senior leadership team and oversees internal functions including human resources, legal, contracts, risk management, student conduct and staff development for Athletics. Shoemaker began her employment with the uni- versity with the Office of University Counsel in 2006, where she oversaw much of the employment, immigra- tion, and student affairs-related legal issues in her role as Associate University Counsel. Prior to coming to the University, Shoemaker was a litigation attorney for Louisville-based law firm Middleton Reutlinger from 2002-06, where she practiced in the ar- eas of commercial, business, and employment law. She began her law career in 2000 as an attorney with Steptoe and Johnson, in their employment law practice group. Shoemaker earned her bachelor’s degree in govern- ment from William & Mary in 1997 and her law de- gree from Kentucky in 2000. As a native of Louisville, Shoemaker’s parents are both UofL alumni. Her father earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from UofL, and her mother received her master’s de- gree from UofL’s Kent School of Social Work. Shoemaker has one child, Elliott. Jeff Spoelker Associate Athletic Director, Finance Jeff Spoelker, who was ele- vated to Associate Athletic Direc- for Finance in 2019 after two years as assistant athletic director for business & finance, is in his 11th year with UofL Athletics and 21 years with the University overall. He returned to UofL after serving as a senior financial analyst for the Louisville Water Company from October 2007 through November 2008. Spoelker was responsible for developing the annual operating budget and monitoring expenditures for various segments of the company. He assisted with the annual audit in addi- tion to aiding with financial forecasting. In 1997, Spoelker joined UofL as the policy and budget analyst in the Office of Budget & Financial Plan- ning. In his role, he was tasked with development, over- sight and administration of approximately $125 million of the University’s budget, which included the athletics association and the UofL Foundation. Among his duties over a 10-year period, he conducted financial analysis and research, financial forecasting, and prepared man- agement reports for top-level officials to include the school’s president and provost. Prior to his first stop at UofL, he served as a grant writer and comprehensive planner for two years with the Kentucky Regional Planning and Development Agency. Spoelker assisted government entities and non- profit organizations with researching and writing federal, state and foundation grants. The Louisville native graduated from Dayton, where he ran cross country for two years, in 1990 with his bachelor’s degree in political science. Spoelker con- tinued his education at Kentucky, where he earned his master’s degree in public administration in 1993. Spoelker secured his certificate in accountancy from Louisville in 2007. He is married to the former Alex Gallitelli, and they reside in Louisville with their sons Nicholas and Peter. Lottie Stockwell Associate Athletic Director, Marketing Lottie Stockwell is in her sec- ond year as UofL’s Associate Athletic Director for Marketing after serving for more than three years as the department’s Assistant Athletic Direc- tor for Brand Marketing & Licensing. With nearly 18 years of experience leading and devel- oping brand/marketing campaigns, Stockwell and her team are responsible for overall brand marketing, brand partnerships and comprehensive fan experience for the Louisville athletic department. Before joining the Louisville staff, Stockwell spent 10 years at Power Creative in Louisville as the Direc- tor of Account Service, where she served as the brand steward for the UofL and Churchill Downs Racetrack, two of the agency’s top clients. She was responsible for the overall agency performance with each account, ensuring financial goals attainment, development of multiple agency/client relationships, while coaching and mentoring a team of account service staff members. Prior to Power Creative, Stockwell served five years as the Account Executive at Red7E, a local advertising agency, which handled the marketing for Churchill Downs, Inc., and all member race tracks. She handled the project management of all creative development for broadcast, digital, print, collateral and customer relation- ship marketing materials. A 2000 graduate of Kentucky with an integrated strategic communications degree, Stockwell worked two years as a marketing specialist at Lexmark Inter- national, where she operated in concert with multiple advertising agencies for creative development of all new product launch materials, including packaging. Athletic Administration gocards.com n University of Louisville 119 201 9-20 B A SKETB ALLBill Applebee Assistant Athletic Director/ Ticket Sales Bill Applebee is in his second season as Assistant Athletic Direc- tor for Ticket Sales at UofL, where he is responsible for developing sales campaigns for the athletic department. Before joining the Louisville staff, Applebee served as the Director of Ticket Sales at Purdue. In his role, he assisted in selling over 5,500 new season tickets for the 2018 football campaign and supported the largest attendance growth in Division I during the 2017 sea- son as the Boilermakers increased their average game attendance by 13,000 per game. Prior to his stint at Purdue, Applebee spent one year as the General Manager for Ticket Sales and Service Operations at Bowling Green, where he oversaw the ticket sales & operations department for five Division I sports and provided daily oversight of the athletic ticket operations and sales departments. In 2010-13, Applebee worked as the Director of Ticket Sales and Service at the United States Air Force Academy, where he was a part of a team that set two of the three highest revenue football seasons at the Academy. He also helped men’s basketball reach six sellouts during the 2012-13 season. Applebee worked in Major League Baseball in 2004, earning accolades as the top new sales associate for the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he was responsible for selling full seasons, mini-plans and group tickets. He began his career in collegiate athletics in 2002, working two years as the Assistant Director of Summer Camps and Corporate Events at Notre Dame. A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Applebee, earned a degree in business administration and sport manage- ment at Robert Morris in 2000. Applebee and his wife Jennifer, who works within the UofL School of Business overseeing the internship programs for graduate stud- ies, reside in Middletown. Carole Banda Director of Olympic Sports Medicine Carole Banda, Director of Olympic Sports Medicine, is in her 20th season at UofL. Based at the Cardinal Park athletic train- ing facility, she is responsible for daily sports medicine operation for 21 of UofL’s sports. Supervising 10 full-time athletic trainers, Banda has travel responsibilities with field hockey. She has coordinated sports medicine coverage for conference championships in men’s basketball, tennis, field hockey and track and field along with the NCAA Field Hockey National Championship. Banda joined UofL in 2000 as the associate director of sports medicine. She was the associate athletic trainer from 1997 to 2000 at the University of Notre Dame after spending six years as the assistant athletic trainer. As the associate, she supervised seven assistant athletic train- ers, coordinated volunteer student athletic trainer pro- gram and traveled with football and women’s lacrosse. Prior to her stint with the Fighting Irish, she served as assistant athletic trainer at Morehead State from 1986-1991 where she had teaching responsibilities and coordinated pre-season physicals. She began her athletic training at Eastern Illinois as the assistant athletic trainer and administrative assistant after spending a year as a graduate assistant. She was a member of the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association and is currently a member of the Kentucky Athletic Trainers’ Society. She is a NATA certified trainer with CPR certification. A 1984 graduate of West Virginia University, with a bachelor of science in secondary education, she earned a master’s in health, physical education and recreation in 1985 from Eastern Illinois. Brad Barber Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations Brad Barber is in his 28th year as Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations after serving as the Assistant Ticket Manager for three seasons with UofL. Barber coordinates all football and basketball season ticket sales, along with ticketing for all single game and post-season events. He also coordinated all ticket sales for the expansion of Cardi- nal Stadium as well as for the KFC Yum! Center. The UofL football team has maintained a substantial season ticket base including reaching over 45,000 in season ticket sales often since 2010. UofL’s men’s basketball has drawn well regularly in the 22,000-seat KFC Yum Center. In addition to regular season events, he is also responsible for ticketing for all conference events along with NCAA post season events run by UofL. He also serves in the game management and operations aspect for all sports. Before coming to UofL, Barber attended Rio Grande College for his undergraduate studies as well as Ohio University for his graduate work. While at Rio Grande College, he served as an assistant basketball coach from 1982-1986. Upon completion of his schooling, he completed an internship at the University of North Carolina in the athletic ticket office. He has been married to the former Kim Morgan for the last 32 years. They have three children: Ryan, Kyle -- both recent UofL graduates -- and Catie, a junior at UofL. Rob Brawner, Jr. Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Facilities Rob Brawner is in his 34th year on the UofL staff, including the last 29 as Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Facili- ties. He served as assistant ath- letic director for operations and tickets his initial four years with the Cardinal athletic department. Before joining the UofL staff, Brawner was the Direc- tor of Admission Control for the Kentucky Fair and Ex- position Center, serving as the KEC liaison with the Tick- etron corporation and operating the KEC Ticket Office. A native of Springfield, Ill., Brawner received a B.S. degree from Cincinnati Bible College in 1977. He earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University in 1985. Brawner has also served as the Director of Tickets of the Ohio High School class AAA, AA and A sectional, district and regional basketball tournaments. He served as assistant basketball coach at Cincinnati Bible College in 1978-79. He is married to the former Lori Higgins. They have two children: Chris and Kelsey Morgan. Laura Clemente Assistant Athletic Director, Multimedia Content Laura Clemente is in her first year on the UofL Athletics staff as Assistant Athletic Director for Mul- timedia and Content after four years as the Cardinals’ Director of Digital Marketing. Clemente has led the digital transformation of the athletic department, guiding the creative and media teams in expanding the brand, while increasing the so- cial media followers to over a million on all platforms. Prior to joining UofL, Clemente worked seven sea- sons with the New York Jets in the National Football League. Beginning as a social media intern in 2009, Clemente worked one season as a communication assistant and three years as the communications coor- dinator. She moved to the digital side in 2014, where she served as the Digital Media Manager in 2014-15, coordinating the execution of the organization’s market- ing calendars, as well as the distribution of breaking news announcements and transactions. A native of Madison, N.J., Clemente played four seasons of lacrosse at Northwestern where she gradu- ated in 2009 with a degree in communications and international studies. Jennifer Hanson Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Experience Jen Hanson is in her first sea- son as Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Experience, after serv- ing as the Cardinals’ Director of Game Production and Fan Experi- ence for two years. Hanson leads gameday production of all football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball events, as well as overseeing all Olympic sports game production related to the in-house show, including videoboards, bands, spirit squads and on-field promotions. In addi- tion to gameday, she also leads production of all in- house special events, banquets, kickoffs, fan parties and donor events. She coordinates with Louisville Sports Properties to ensure in-game sponsorship fulfillment at the highest level. In addition, she oversees team marketing, assisting all sports marketing managers in gameday execution. Prior to UofL, Hanson was the Director of Marketing at Washington State University, overseeing all marketing aspects of football, men’s & women’s basketball, baseball, women’s soccer, tennis and golf during her six years in the Pac 12. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and an MBA from Southwest Minnesota State University. Justin Ruffin Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services Justin Ruffin is in his ninth year with UofL as Assistant Ath- letic Director for Academics. He is responsible for overseeing aca- demics for the Cardinal football team and supervises the academ- ic staff housed in Cardinal Stadium Football Complex. After serving five years in various capacities, at James Madison University, Ruffin came to the University of Lou- isville. In 2002, Ruffin graduated with a Bachelor’s of Sci- ence in Integrated Science and Technology from JMU and he earned his Master of Science in Athletic Admin- istration two years later in 2004. A native of Norfolk, Va., Ruffin is a member of Ome- ga Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, National Association Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) and Black Coaches and Administrators. Ruffin and his wife Erika have three sons: Justin, Jayson and Joshua. Lauren Rust Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance Lauren Rust is in her 12th year at the University of Lou- isville and her ninth with Car- dinal Athletics, currently serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Rust is responsible for the eligibility of initial and transfer student-athletes, as well as assisting in the eligibility of continuing student-athletes, Academic Prog- ress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) reports and the compliance internship program. She has worked the last three years in her current position after three years as UofL’s Director of Compliance. She joined the UofL athletics staff in August of 2011 after three years as Associate Director of Advising in the UofL College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to her arrival at UofL, Rust worked six years at the Thornton Athletics Student Life Center at the University of Tennessee. She was an Academic Ath- letic Counselor for women’s swimming, rowing and women’s golf (2002-05), as well as Assistant Director overseeing all academic counselors and serving as the primary academic counselor for men’s basketball and women’s volleyball (2005-08). Rust also worked a year in Membership Services for the NCAA as an intern in 2001-02. Rust earned a B.A. in Exercise Science at Morehead State University (Ky.) in 1999. She graduated with a M.A. in Sport Administration at Morehead State in 2001 while serving as a graduate assistant in athletics. A native of Louisville, Rust and her husband Rich have two children: Garrett and Brynlee. Scott Sallade Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services Scott Sallade, Assistant Ath- letic Director for Student Services, is in his 23rd year as a staff member of the Olga Peers Aca- demic Center. He oversees the academic support for women’s soccer, softball and the spirit groups, in addition to his many administrative duties, including continuing eligibil- ity and campus involvement. He has been at UofL since 1987 and has worked in several areas of the university including Housing and Residence Life, Admissions and Orientation and Intra- mural and Recreational Sports. He currently serves as a part-time instructor for the Health and Sport Sciences Department. Sallade earned his B.S in Sport Administration (1992) and his Master of Education (1994), both from the University of Louisville. The Cards’ all-girl squad has won 15 championships, including nine of the last 11 titles (2001-05, ‘07-’09, ‘11-12, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19). UofL has also won the small coed national title 10 times (2005, ‘06, ‘08, ‘09, ‘11, ‘13, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17). The Cardinals also won their fifth NCA Cheer stunt national championship in 2019. Ladybirds The University of Louisville Ladybirds, UofL’s dance team, has won 19 national titles, winning National Dance Association Championships in Div 1A team performance (2016, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19), Div 1A Dance (2002, ‘03, ‘04, ‘07, ‘08, ‘09, ‘11, ‘15) and Div 1A Hip Hop Dance (2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018). Under the direction of Al Greener, the musical cheerleaders are a highly visible source of spirit and enthusiasm at Cardinal basketball events. In addition to U of L men's basketball, the pep band performs at an abundance of athletic events.
