< PreviousACC and the NCAA Tournament • The ACC has won seven national championships in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball since 2015. That is the most of any confer- ence and the ACC is the only league to win each of those four titles over that stretch. • Notre Dame was the NCAA runner-up in 2019 after winning the national championship the previous year (2018). • The ACC has had at least one Final Four team in five of the past six seasons and a team has advanced to the title game each time in as many years. • Since 2006, current ACC membership combines for 10 title game appearances, the most of a single conference. • ACC member institutions have won three NCAA Championships and made 24 trips to the Final Four. • Seven different institutions have represented the ACC in the Women’s Final Four (current membership). • Since the 2015 NCAA Tournament, the ACC owns the most tournament wins (69) of any con- ference. • Led by ACC Champion Notre Dame, a record- tying eight league teams were selected to the 64-team 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship field. The eight teams selected to the tournament match a league record (2014, 2015 and 2018), and are the most of any conference this year. It is also the fifth time in the last six years at least seven ACC teams have earned berths in the Big Dance, and the 12th time in the last 15 years at least six teams have been selected. • With Louisville and Notre Dame both earning No. 1 seeds in last year’s NCAA Tournament, the ACC has had at least one No. 1 seed in each of past six tournaments and 20 times overall. The ACC has had multiple No. 1 seeds in six tournaments (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2018, 2019). • The ACC ended the 2019 season with the No. 1 RPI in the nation. Six ACC teams ranked among the top 25 of the RPI (the most of any league – next closest was the SEC with three). The six teams are - Notre Dame (2), Louisville (5), NC State (9), Syracuse (11), Florida State (21) and Miami (25). • The ACC has placed at least one team in the regional semifinals every year since the NCAA Women’s Championship began in 1982. With three teams advancing in 2019, 88 ACC squads have reached the regional semifinals over the past 37 years. School ACC All Tourn. The University of Louisville women’s basketball team embraced the role of underdog during its 2009 NCAA Tournament run. The Cardinals were never picked as the favor- ite despite upsetting three top five-ranked teams in a row to advance to the National Championship game. Louisville had to beat Liberty and host LSU in the first two rounds of the tournament, then No. 5 Baylor, No. 3 Maryland and No. 4 Oklahoma to earn a spot in the title game. The Car- dinals’ luck ran out against top-ranked UConn in the title game, falling to the Huskies 76-54. The Cardinals advanced to the Final Four for the first time in school history and won a school-record 34 games. Louisville also finished the season with their highest ranking of No. 2 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. 2 0 0 9 NCAA Tournament Runner-Up 114 University of Louisville n gocards.com NCAA Final Four 201 9-20 B A SKETB ALLFront Row (L-R): Executive Director of Operations Adrienne Johnson, Jude Schimmel, Bria Smith, Shelby Harper, Asia Taylor, Head Coach Jeff Walz, Monique Reid, Tia Gibbs, Shoni Schimmel, Monny Niamke, Director of Operations Mary Beth Whitaker.
