< Previous NEW C OMER Q&A: BRENDEN C OFFEY 71 Q: What made you want to come to Auburn? A: Auburn was the most authentic to me. Other places I visited talked about what they wanted to do with their program, but the way the Au- burn coaches talked about this program felt like it was their first time coaching and they were just so excited about it. They honestly believe everything they say and that’s a program I can get behind. That means they are going to put everything they have into this program and into me. They were so enthusiastic talking about Auburn and I knew they meant it all. Q: What is one word you’d use to describe yourself on the field and one word you’d use to describe yourself off the field? A: One word that describes me on the field is attentive. I’m always watching and trying to learn as much as possible. It’s a different program and it’s a step up so I am trying to really focus on the details and getting them right. A word to describe me off the field is genuine. I like to be true not only to myself, but to other people too. I’m going to show you who I am and I find that it’s hard not to like someone when they’re genuinely out there and having fun. Q: Which artist(s) could fans find you listen- ing to before a game to get pumped up? A: Disturbed. They are my go-to band and I love them. The heavy metal gets me. I put my head down and hear everything start to flow and think, “Oh man, here we gooo!” Q: If you had one million dollars to donate to a charity or cause of your choice, what would you donate it towards? A: The Stanford Medical Research Center. My sister had back surgery and was also on life support. Stanford’s child health program actually saved her life twice. If it wasn’t for them, she wouldn’t be here today. If I could send one million dollars anywhere it would be right to them. Q: What is an interesting fact about yourself that the Au- burn family should know? A: I’m a huge Legend of Zelda fan. Q: Who is your favorite NFL team to follow? A: I like the (Pittsburgh) Steelers. Growing up, we were a Steel- ers family household. Every Sunday my mom would break out a Terrible Towel and be like, “Time to watch the Steelers!” Q: What’s your all-time favorite movie? A: Either the “Indiana Jones” series or the original “Tron” movie. Those are classics. The weird futuristic stuff that you’d see in the old “Tron” movie was probably mind-blowing at the time and the old “Indiana Jones” movies were just amazing anyways. Q: What’s your favorite aspect of football? A: The camaraderie and the teamwork between all of us. In- dividually, you can do your job, but if you can’t put it together it’s pointless. When all the ingredients are in the pot and you put them together and they work, that’s what makes the meal. When we’re out there on the field and we all do our jobs and we put all the effort we had into it, that’s what feels amazing to me. We banded together for two hours, worked our hardest, picked each other up and we kept ourselves going. Q: If we made a movie about your life, what would it be titled and who would you want to star as you? A: Ryan Reynolds would definitely play me. It would be called “What Happens Next?” because throughout my life I have just been jumping into things and taking on new challenges and my mindset each time is basically “What Happens Next?” Q: What is one of your biggest life goals outside of football? A: There has been a lot of stuff that has happened to my family that has put us in losing situations and so I really just want to make my family proud. I want to hear them say, “You did something amazing and we are so proud of you for that.” I want people to walk up to my mom and be like, “That boy of yours, he really did something great and you should be really proud of him for that.” I know my mom is already proud of me, but I want to keep working hard for her and my family.
