< PreviousNEW C OMER Q&A: MARQUIS BURKS 51 Q: What made Auburn stand out to you? A: It was the vibe that I got as soon as I stepped on campus. I just felt comfortable. Q: What has been the biggest adjustment going from JUCO to Division I? A: The work ethic for sure. It’s so much hard work here. Coach Garner is tough on us, but I know it comes from the heart. Q: What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far at Auburn? A: I really just have to come and attack every day. Q: What is one word you’d use to describe yourself on the field and another to describe yourself off the field? A: On the field, relentless. Off the field, very chill. Q: What are your goals academically and athletically here at Auburn? A: Academically, I am trying to make it on the honor roll. I haven’t been on the honor roll or anything so I’m really just trying to make a big jump on my grades. For football, I think starting with making the All-SEC first team would be a big thing for me. Q: If we made a movie about your life, what would it be titled and who would star as you? A: I feel like the name of the movie would be Chapters because I have been through so many different things in my life. There have been so many moments in my life that they’re just chap- ters. They say I look like Terrence Howard so we’ll go with him. Q: What is your favorite home-cooked meal? A: That’s a tough one. I would say my grandma’s baked maca- roni and cheese. She’s on point with it. The top of the macaro- ni is crispy and it’s so creamy on the inside. Q; What is your favorite aspect of your position? A: I just get to consistently be aggressive. Q: What is your favorite part about playing football? A: My favorite part about playing football is meeting new peo- ple and building different bonds with different people. Q: Who is an NFL player you admire and why? I feel like I play like Chris Jones from the Chiefs, but my favor- ite player is Devin Hester. I grew up watching him. He was my favorite player growing up. Q: If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you? A: I’m going to need a boat, a bookbag and some type of survival kit with a knife or something. Q: Any hidden talents or any hob- bies? A: I just like to play the game of football. Q: Who is your biggest role model and why? A: My dad because he didn’t always have to be successful in life, but he always made sure he took care of his kids. He made sure I followed my own path and that I’m doing what I can to be successful. Q: What has been your favorite foot- ball memory so far? A: I have two of them. My senior year of high school, our team wasn’t picked to go that far in the playoffs. We took down the No. 3 team in the state in the first round of the playoffs. I loved that feeling. And then last December, at the JUCO I was playing for, we won off a field goal in overtime so I got to go out with a bang.
