Not only did UK reach a milestone, the Wildcats became the fastest to 600 wins for a program in one venue in NCAA Divi- sion I history. Already owning an impressive .896 win- ning percentage, Kentucky's dominance in Rupp is impressive. It took UK just 670 games to reach win No. 600. UCLA previ- ously held the fastest pace, having reached the mark in 689 games in Pauley Pavilion. Only one other team, Kansas, has achieved win No. 600 in fewer than 700 games. The Jayhawks reached the significant win in their 699th game. Other notable numbers involving Rupp Arena: • UK has gone undefeated 13 times in the 43-year history of the building, most recently in 2015-16 • The most wins in one season is 19, set in 2014-15 • John Calipari is the venue's all-time winningest coach with 173 wins. He reached win No. 100 in the venue in just 104 games, the fastest of any UK coach • Under Calipari, the Wildcats are 153-5 against unranked foes and 92-4 against non- conference opponents • Calipari began his career with a 54- game winning streak, the longest such win- ning streak in the venue's history Calipari-Pastner Connection John Calipari has made it known that he doesn't enjoy coaching against friends. In that regard, Saturday won't be particularly enjoyable for Calipari as he's pitted against one of his former Memphis assistants. Pastner was on Calipari's staff during his final season at Memphis in 2008-09. After earning a reputation as a tireless recruiter at Arizona and then at Memphis, Pastner took over the reins at Memphis when Calipari took the Kentucky job, becoming the young- est coach in NCAA Division I basketball at the time at 31 years old. In seven seasons in Memphis, Pastner continued the successful run Calipari had built with four NCAA Tournament appear- ances in seven seasons. He took over at Georgia Tech for the 2016-17 season and is now in his fourth season. It will be the first time Calipari and Pastner have gone head-to-head. Calipari is 16-0 all-time vs. his former assistant coaches in regular-season games. Hello Again, Old Friend Kentucky's meeting with Georgia Tech will be its first since Dec. 9, 2000, but the two programs are quite familiar with one another. Georgia Tech, now in the Atlan- tic Coast Conference, played in the Southeastern Conference from the 1932-33 season through the 1963-64 season. The Yellow Jackets were 201- 207 all-time in SEC play and won both the regular-season and tourna- ment titles in 1938. As it pertains to the UK-Georgia Tech history, Kentucky has dominat- ed the series 56-15, including 30-4 in Lexington. The upcoming matchup is part of a two-year series with the Yellow Jackets. UK will play Georgia Tech in Atlanta next season on Nov. 27 at State Farm Arena in the Holiday Hoopsgiving. Allen to be Recognized Before Game for Kentucky Mr. Basketball Honor Dontaie Allen will be presented his ring prior to Saturday's game for winning the 2019 Kentucky Mr. Basketball honor by the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation. Allen, a freshman guard, became the 18th Wildcat to win the state's top honor in March. Due to scheduling conflicts, the offi- cial presentation of Allen's ring was unable to take place until Saturday. Allen won the prestigious award after one of the best high school basketball careers in re- cent state history. The Falmouth, Kentucky, na- tive averaged a staggering 42.9 points and 14.2 rebounds per game for Pendleton County. He capped his high school career with 3,255 career points, which ranks 11th all-time in state history, and his 1,228 career rebounds rank 22nd best in the state record books. Unfortunately a torn ACL during his senior season limited Allen to 13 games and has de- layed his debut for Kentucky. The high-scor- ing wing scored 50 or more points in six of his first 12 games of his senior campaign. He averaged 31.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and shot 59.1% as a junior. Allen participated in strength and con- ditioning programs over the summer and continues to progress with rehabilitation pro- gram, including participating in his first prac- tice last week. A timeline on his return has not been set yet. Bubba's Back There's a joke among Kentucky fans -- a not-so-funny one -- that opponents all too of- ten seem to have a player who has a record shooting night when they play the Wildcats in Rupp Arena. Maybe it's the bright lights, the big stage and the grand opportunity, but it will be no laughing matter for Big Blue Na- tion when it finds out the owner of one of the most prolific shooting performances in Rupp Arena history will make his return. Bubba Parham, formerly with VMI, is now on the Georgia Tech roster and will make his second career appearance vs. the Wildcats after lighting up the scoreboard just a season ago. Parham, a 5-foot-10 guard, made 10 of 16 3-point shots in the Nov. 18, 2018 game in Rupp Arena. Parham's 10 3-pointers are the second most by a Kentucky opponent, just one short of Corey Allmond's 11 for Sam Houston State on Nov. 19, 2009. Parham ended up with 35 points total but the Wildcats held off the Keydets 92-82. He averaged 21.4 for the season. In his first season with Georgia Tech, Par- ham is averaging 7.0 points.
