KAHLIL WHITNEY Follow KAHLIL on Social Media n @KahlilWhitney on Twitter n @kahlilwhitney on Instagram #2 ChicagoBy Matt May UK Athletics Communications and Public Relations Kentucky baseball again will face one of the most difficult schedules in the coun- try in 2020 with 31 games slated against teams that made the 2019 NCAA Tourna- ment, including 11 against College World Series participants. Confirmed game times and television as- signments will be announced at a later date. The full schedule can be found at UKathlet- ics.com. The Wildcats will open the 2020 season on the road against perennial power TCU before returning home on February 18 to open a 15-game homestand as part of a 36- game schedule at Kentucky Proud Park. The exciting home slate includes Southeastern Conference three-game series vs. Alabama, Florida, LSU, Missouri and South Carolina, as well as the annual game against Louis- ville and four total contests against Cin- cinnati and UNC Wilmington, which both made the NCAA Tournament last season. The Cats hit the road for the eighth straight season to open SEC play, drawing defending national champion Vanderbilt in Nashville on March 13-15. They will return home to host Florida on March 20-22 before traveling to 2019 College World Series par- ticipant Mississippi State to close out March. The rest of league play consists of home series vs. Alabama (April 3-5), LSU (April 9-11), Missouri (April 23-25) and South Carolina (May 8-10) and road trips to Au- burn (April 18-20), Tennessee (May 1-3) and Georgia (May 14-16) to close the season. In a bit of a scheduling quirk the Cats will play three consecutive Thursday-Saturday series in conference play, including home ones with LSU and Missouri with a trip to Auburn in between. They will end the reg- ular season with another Thursday-Saturday series at Georgia before the SEC Tournament the following week. The Cats must replace All-American and first-round draft pick Zack Thompson on the mound but return most of a lineup that is expected to be strong offensively. Junior college slugger Oraj Anu, a draft pick of the Boston Red Sox, and a deep and talented freshman class gives the club more depth than a year ago. The Cats are entering the fourth season under head coach Nick Mingione and have won 103 games during his three-year tenure. The program has seen 24 players selected in the past two Major League Baseball drafts, including a school-record 13 in 2018, and a pair of first-round selections in Evan White (2017) and Zack Thompson (2019). The pro- gram also advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in school history in 2017 and opened $49 million Kentucky Proud Park last season. Season tickets are on sale now and fans renewing season tickets from last year can visit UKathletics.com/renew. Fans purchas- ing new season tickets in Kentucky Proud Park can do so by visiting UKBaseballTix. com. Season tickets start at just $64 for ter- race/berm seating. Dugout chairback and terrace/berm general admission areas will be available for purchase as new season tickets. Reserved season tickets were sold out last season with new ticket holders hav- ing the ability to request reserved seating preferences at the time of purchase, if it be- comes available after the renewal process. Each general admission area is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
