2020 PLAYOFFS | TODAY’S GAME PRESENTED BY QUALIFYING ROUND, GAME 1 | AUGUST 2, 2020 | 1pm ct TABLE OF CONTENTSVIDEO GOES HEREAUGUST HOCKEY • After more than four months off, the Nashville Predators return to the ice for a competitive game today as their Qualifying Round series against the Arizona Coyotes gets underway. • The series is a best-of-five – the first such series in team history – and the winner earns the right to play one of the four Round Robin teams in the First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. • It will be the first August game in Predators history, and the games on Saturday were the first to be played in the month in NHL history. POSTSEASON STREAK EXTENDED • The Nashville Predators ended the 2019-20 NHL regular season with 78 points and a 35-26-8 record in 69 games played, equating to a .565 point percentage. • Following the pause, and subsequent cancellation of the remainder of the regular season, the Predators finished sixth in the Western Conference in point percentage, allowing the club to participate in the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers and qualify for the postseason. • Nashville pushed its postseason streak to six seasons, the longest in franchise history. • Nashville has enjoyed postseason hockey in every season since 2014-15, tied for the second-longest active streak (with Washington), trailing only Pittsburgh’s run of 14 seasons. QUICK HITS • Nashville picked up a 2-0 victory over the Dallas Stars in its exhibition game on Thursday. The game was the team’s lone tune-up for its series against Arizona. • Viktor Arvidsson scored both Predators goals, with Filip Forsberg adding two assists. The two were paired with center Ryan Johansen for the reunion of the “JOFA” line. • Juuse Saros started in goal for Nashville and played half the game, stopping all 12 shots he faced. Pekka Rinne entered and stopped all 13 shots he faced to help the Preds to a shutout. • John Hynes was named the third head coach in Predators history on Jan. 7. He has recorded a 16-11-1 record as head coach and earned his first win with the team on Jan. 9 at Chicago. • Forsberg led the Predators in goals with 21 this season. He became the first player in franchise history to record six 20-goal seasons. • Saros went 12-5-0 in his final 17 starts of the regular season.
