2020 PLAYOFFS | TODAY’S GAME PRESENTED BY SHOWCASE GAME | JULY 30, 2020 | 3pm ct TABLE OF CONTENTSVIDEO GOES HEREPOSTSEASON STREAK CONTINUES • The Nashville Predators ended the 2019-20 NHL regular season with 78 points and a 35-26-8 record in 69 games played, equating to a .565 point percentage. • Following the pause, and subsequent cancellation of the remainder of the regular season, the Predators finished sixth in the Western Conference in point percentage, allowing the club to participate in the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers and qualify for the postseason. • With its best-of-five series against the Arizona Coyotes scheduled to begin on Aug. 2, Nashville pushed its postseason streak to six seasons, the longest in franchise history. • Nashville has enjoyed postseason hockey in every season since 2014-15, tied for the second-longest active streak (with Washington), trailing only Pittsburgh’s run of 14 seasons. JOSI 4 NORRIS • Captain Roman Josi is one of three finalists for the 2020 Norris Trophy, awarded annually to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position. • Josi was voted as a finalist alongside Washington’s John Carlson and Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman. • Among NHL defensemen, Josi was first in shots (260); second in points (65) and assists (49); tied for second in goals (16) and third in average time on ice (25:47). • He set the franchise record for points and assists in a season by a defenseman. • According to The Point Hockey, Josi led all NHL blueliners in zone exits (8.4), zone entries (5.4) and offensive zone puck possession time (0:55) per game. QUICK HITS • The Preds earned a victory in at least half of their games for the sixth straight season and 12th time in their 21-season history. • Nashville averaged 33.1 shots per game, the fifth-most in the NHL. • Ten Nashville skaters scored at least 10 goals this season, tied for the second- most in the NHL. • John Hynes was named the third head coach in Predators history on Jan. 7. He has recorded a 16-11-1 record as head coach and earned his first win with the team on Jan. 9 at Chicago. • Filip Forsberg led the Predators in goals with 21 this season. He became the first player in franchise history to record six 20-goal seasons. • Pekka Rinne became the 12th different goaltender – and the seventh to do so by shooting into an empty net – to score an NHL goal on Jan. 9 at Chicago. • Juuse Saros went 12-5-0 in his final 17 starts of the regular season.
