This week’s game will be the 22nd time that the Spiders visit Villanova Stadium, and in the previous 21 contests the Wildcats have posted a 15-6 record. Richmond did win in its last trip to Vil- lanova with a 22-0 win on Nov. 4, 2017. HOME STRETCH: Villanova played its last regular season road game of the season last week at New Hampshire. Begin- ning with this week’s game against Richmond, the Wildcats will play three straight home games to finish the season. After playing Richmond, Villanova will host Long Island on Nov. 15 and Delaware on Nov. 23. The Wildcats are 2-1 at home this year. 10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY: This year is the 10th anni- versary of Villanova’s 2009 FCS national championship. In recognition of the 2009 national title, Villanova is bringing back the players and coaches from that squad for this week’s game. The team will sit together during the game and they will be brought on the field at halftime to be introduced to the crowd. 100-YARD PLATEAU: For the second time this season and third time during his career, junior wide receiver Changa Hodge went over the 100-yard receiving mark in Saturday’s loss at New Hampshire. Hodge finished with seven catches for 106 yards. His other 100-yard game this year came at James Madison when he had eight receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns. In the last three games combined, Hodge has recorded 21 catches for 325 yards and three scores. For the year, he has 39 receptions for 586 yards (15.0 avg.) and a team-high tying six touchdowns. BLOCK PARTY: True freshman Elijah Solomon has turned into one of Villanova’s top special team players this season. In last week’s game at New Hampshire, Solomon registered his second blocked punt of the season. He also had a blocked punt against Maine on Sept. 28. CAREER-BEST PERfORMANCE: Sophomore safety Darius Pickett tallied a career-high in total tackles with 12 against New Hampshire in last week’s 28-20 loss. The 12 total stops include nine solo and three assisted tackles. For the year, Pickett has 42 tackles. A LINE OF DEFENSE: The Villanova offense line has been outstanding all season long for the Wildcats. After eight games, the Wildcats have given up just 10 sacks for a loss of 74 yards. The 10 sacks given up rank as the fewest allowed by any CAA team and ranks 13th in the latest FCS national stats. KEEPING DRIVES ALIVE: Villanova has excelled on third down all season long. Entering play versus Richmond on Nov. 9, Villanova is second in the CAA in third down conversions at 48.8 percent (63-of-129). The 48.8 percent is also good enough for a seventh place tie in the national statistics. GAINING GROUND: The Villanova Wildcats have had great success this year with their running game. Villanova has gone over the 200-yard rushing mark in five of the eight games and have tallied 1,716 rushing yards on the season for an average of 190.7 rushing yards per game. The team currently ranks second in the CAA in rushing offense. VILLANOVA (6-3, 3-3 CAA) RICHMOND (5-4, 4-1 CAA) Junior wide receiver Changa Hodge tallied his second 100-yard receiving game of the season in last week’s game at New Hampshire with seven catches for 106 yards.
