Her .90 blocks/set average ranks tied for eighth all- time on Auburn’s career records list and she set a new Auburn single-season record in 2018, averaging 1.15 blocks/set. Her 91 total blocks in 2018 ranks seventh, while her 18 solo stuffs finished tied for second on the season list. 2018: Last year as a sophomore, she played in 22 matches with 21 starts and was fourth on the team with a 2.14 kills/ set average, tallying 169 kills on the year. Prep: Akela came to Louisville from Manhattan Beach, where she played for Mira Costa High School and San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club under Coach Kenji Mukai. In two years at Mira Costa, she was a team captain and a scholar athlete, leading her team to a 28-1 overall record and 7-0 record in Bay League conference play.
